SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government is offering 10 scholarships to Malay and Indian students fluent in Mandarin to pursue studies in China.

Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said the scholarships would be for business studies in recognised institutions of higher learning in Beijing and Shanghai.

Each student would receive about RM100,000 for a year’s study, he told a press conference after the state executive council meeting on Wednesday.

He said the scholarship programme was to encourage learning of other languages, besides their mother tongue, among students. – Bernama
