Syarat Kelayakan

Syarat kelayakan untuk kemasukan ke institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi seperti di atas adalah berbeza bergantung kepada kursus dan syarat-syarat lain yang ditetapkan oleh setiap institusi. Sila rujuk Syarat Kelayakan Memohon.

Permohonan dibahagikan kepada beberapa kategori seperti berikut : 

• Pemohon yang menggunakan keputusan SPM/SPMV / Setaraf dengannya.
• Pemohon lepasan SPM dan Sijil mengikut bidang yang dipohon.
• Pemohon lepasan SPM dan STPM.
• Pemohon lepasan SPM dan Diploma/Higher National Diploma / Setaraf

Tajaan Pengajian

Pelajar – pelajar yang dipilih bagi mengikuti pengajian di UniKL, GMI dan KPTM adalah layak dipertimbangkan tajaan pinjaman pelajaran MARA.  Urusan berkaitan pinjaman pelajaran ini akan diuruskan oleh IPMa yang berkaitan bersama dengan Bahagian Penganjuran Pelajaran MARA.

Manakala, bagi calon yang terpilih mengikuti pengajian di KPM, KKTM, IKM dan KM (PKS-UMK) yuran pengajian adalah percuma yang mana ianya akan dibiayai oleh MARA dan elaun sara hidup akan diberikan kepada mereka yang layak menerima bantuan.

Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah Tuesday called on local varsity students to master English language and improve their communication skills through the Malaysian Soft Skills Scale (My3S) programme.

He said these were the two weaknesses revealed by a survey conducted last year as part of the My3S programme to bring holistic improvement among varsity students.

“Soft skills are vital because we want our graduates to be all rounders, excelling not just academically, but also in communication and interpersonal skills, because these aspects are part of the most important package they will need to enter the job market.”

He said this to reporters after opening the “Haluan Siswa” Week for new students of Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM) here Tues day.

So far, Saifuddin said the My3S programme had been adopted by all 20 public universities and several private colleges in the country.

There are seven key elements in the My3S programme, namely communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, team work, continuous learning and information management, entrepreneurship, professional ethics and morality and leadership skills, he said.

The academic term of the public and private institutions of higher learning (IPT) will start in September instead of July, said Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah.

This new system aimed at circumventing public and private IPTs from losing outstanding Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia candidates to foreign universities. “These bright students hardly have enough time to pick the best local IPTs after the SPM results, and ultimately they choose to study overseas, particularly in Singapore.

In addition, local IPTs failed to attract foreign students from pursuing their studies here as the academic term beginning July was not aligned with the summer break semester system abroad.

With the new academic year, the SPM leavers will have too much free time on their hands before the IPT intake in the September next year.

If you are looking for a place which offer a reasonable or maybe affordable rate to do medical degree, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman is the one that you should consider. In May 2010, they will start its first batch of medical students in new Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sungai Long, Selangor.

The course is about RM50,000  a year, or RM250,000 over 5 years (duration of the course).

UNIVERSITI Tunku Abdul Rahman (Utar) will take in its first batch of medical students at its new Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sungai Long, Selangor in May.

The 50 students who will be pursuing its Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree will each pay about RM250,000 for the course, which is supposedly the most affordable for a medical degree in the country.

The institution’s long-standing reputation in producing quality graduates, will certainly be an advantage in attracting students to pursue the MBBS programme, said Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) president Dr David K L Quek.

“Utar has always been solid in producing good graduates, and I hope that the new medical school will prove itself as a part of that,” he added.

Joanne Wee, 20, from Sabah, who is currently awaiting her STPM results said that she had looked into the various options available.

The MBBS programme offered by Utar was “affordable”, she said as it worked out to about RM50,000 per year.

“After taking into consideration the cost for food, transport and accommodation, it is still within my budget.

I would definitely consider the option of studying there,” she said.

She added that while there were other private universities in the country that offered lower or comparable fees to that of Utar’s MBBS programme, she would still consider Utar as it had firmly established itself in the field of higher education.

M. Shobana, 20, who also recently completed her STPM said she was still deciding between Medicine and Psychology.

“They are both good fields to be in, but I am still undecided about which course to take.”

Coming from a middle-income family, the Malacca-born student said that she was looking out for scholarships or loans because that would take a load off her parents financially.

While she might consider enrolling in another university in Kedah, because of the lower fees, Shobana said she also was keen on Utar.

“My older siblings live in Kuala Lumpur which makes it convenient for me to study at its (Utar’s) Sungai Long campus,” she said.

Established last year, Utar’s faculty of medicine and health sciences also plans to offer three more degree programmes in Nursing, Physiotherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

As announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in the 2010 Budget last October, Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) will offer a netbook package, including free broadband service, to 100,000 university students with a monthly installment of RM50 for two years. JOHOR BARU: The Higher Education Ministry will look into tightening security on the public university online application website to prevent cases of tampering.

Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said his ministry would look into the matter of upgrading the security system on the website.

“I am waiting to hear from the Higher Education Department on the steps that can be taken.

“This is probably the first time such a thing has happened,” he said responding to three students in Gopeng who claimed their online application for public universities was tampered.

Mohamed Khaled said that with hundreds of thousands of applications being submitted, it was possible for pranks to occur.

The students should refer the matter to the Higher Education Department to find out details about their case, he said.

He also questioned why the students had gone to the press instead of highlighting the matter to the ministry.

Former SMK Seri Teja students Chow Hon Mun, 21, Chai Yick Loong, 21, and Ang Chun Heng, 20, who received their STPM results recently, were horrified to find all their eight choices filled with Islamic Studies.

They lodged police reports after they realised they were unable to make changes to the details on the online application website.

They claimed they had received SMSes from an unidentified person who admitted to making the changes to their applications
