Good news to all SPM 2011 candidates as the Ministry of Education has announced that the SPM 2011 examination result will be released on 21 March 2012.

There are few options for you to check your SPM 2011 examination result. Traditionally, you can go direct to your respective school and get the result as early as 10.00am on 21/3/2012. Majority of candidates will choose this options as this the time for them to meet friends and to share result

The long period of waiting for all SPM 2011 candidates will come to the end soon. Eventhough, the minsitry of education have yet to announce on the SPM 2011 result release date but based on previous year, the result will be out early March.

If the trend unchanged, all candidates can get their result from respective school or through SMS which will be shared to all at later date.

You have only 1 month time to do some preparation that you need to do now until the BIG DAY !.You might wonder what need to be done now ? We share some of the things that you can do :

Find information of college/universities or programme that you want to pursue
Find any scholarship opportunities that will already opened or will be opened soon. If you notice most of the scholarship will be release early March.
Visit any education fair
Visit Malaysian Qualifications Agency for programme accreditation (for private college/university)

The Ministry of Education Malaysia has announced that all STAM 2011 candidates can get their STAM 2011 result on 26 January 2011 at their respective school effective from 10.00am onwards.

For those who can’t make it can alternatively check through SMS services, you can check through SMS, just type STAM [your number] and send to 15888 from 10.00 am 26th January 2012 until 12 am 1st February 2012.

History Subject in SPM 2013

History subject is Compulsory to pass SPM Examination by year 2013.

A special committee has been setup to review the History curriculum and school text book following the last year decision to make History a compulsory pass subject in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examination from 2013. The 12-member committee is chaired by former deputy education director-general Datuk Omar Mohd Hashim.

The committee’s terms of reference are to:

Determine the direction of the History curriculum developemnt in realising the current needs and future challenges;
Study the suitability of the present curriculum’s content and textbook with the impact of learning History which stresses on unity and patriotism;
Review the accuracy in the facts contained in the curriculum and textbook; and
Make recommendations based on the review and present them in a report to the ministry.

The committee which met for the first time at the Education Ministry yesterday has been given a year to complete the task. Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who had appointed the committee in his capacity as education minister, briefly attended the meeting.

In line with the move to make History a compulsory core subject, the ministry said the country’s history should be taught so that students can understand and appreciate the spirit of unity and solidarity as Malaysians.

Mar 31 deadline for private SPM candidates

The deadline for registration of private candidates sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and Sijil Pelajaran Ulangan is March 31.

The Education Ministry in a statement said registration forms for private candidates can be obtained from their respective state Education Departments.

The statement said all private candidates must register within the deadline because late registration would not be entertained.

Best MRSM in SPM 2010

Congratulations to all SPM 2010 candidates, by now you have got your own result. This is just a beginning for more challenging world outside there.

In this post I would like to share some record made by the Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) students in the SPM 2010.

A total of 1,249 Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) students obtained A in all subjects in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination last year. Its director-general, Ibrahim Ahmad said they accounted for 18.28 per cent of 6,833 candidates from 38 MRSMs.

The best MRSM based on the Average College Grade (GPM) ranked as follows :

MRSM Tun Ghafar Baba (0.91),
MRSM Taiping (0.97),
MRSM Langkawi (1.33),
MRSM Kuala Kubu Baharu (1.68),
MRSM Kubang Pasu (1.73) and

“Despite the good showing, Mara and the MRSM’s focus is not merely on academic achievement but also to create a holistic human capital, who appreciate noble values and have remarkable personal strengths,” he said in a statement.

SPM: Best Results In Four Years With 9,239 Straight-A Scorers

A total of 9,239 out of 467,970 candidates scored excellent results (A+, A, A-) in all the subjects they sat for in the 2010 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination, making it the best results recorded in four years.

Director-General of Education Datuk Abd Ghaffar Mahmud said the results also showed an increase of 1,252 straight-A scorers from only 7,987 recorded in 2009.

He said of the total, 363 candidates scored A+ in all subjects compared to 214 candidates in 2009 and the number of candidates obtained at least grade C in all subjects had also increased to 68,114 from 60,114 previously.

“The number of straight-A scorers among those who sat for nine and 10 subjects had increased, while the straight-A achievers among those who sat for 11 and 12 subjects, had declined,” he said when announcing the SPM results here today.

He said the number of candidates who failed the examination last year had also declined by 104 to 2,773 from 2,877 in 2009.

“However, the number of those who achieved the highest grade is still low compared to the number of candidates who failed in all subjects they sat for,” he said.

On the performance of candidates with special needs, Abd Ghafar said 319 managed to get their certificates, with seven of them scored straight As.

The analysis of the 2010 SPM results also revealed that the candidates’ performance in 55 subjects had improved by three per cent for excellent grade, while 39 were stable and nine other subjects showed a decline, he said.

He said the number of candidates who obtained credits (B+,B,C+,C) had also increased in 18 subjects, stable in 43 subjects and declined in 42 subjects, while the number of those who passed the with grade D and E, had declined by three per cent in 31 subjects.

On the performance of schools, he said most of the schools were categorised as having shown excellence, good and satisfactory performance, while only 66 schools were categorised as having the potential to do better.

Abd Ghafar said candidates’ performance based on locations had also increased and the gap between the urban and rural students had been reduced by 0.18 on the national average grade.

“The rural candidates’ performance in Bahasa Melayu and Science are better than that of urban candidates, while the performance gap in English, History, Mathematics, Islamic Education and Moral Education still need to be brought closer,” he said.

Tomorrow is the day that you have been waiting for. For all SPM 2010 candidates, good luck for tomorrow. For those who obtained excellent result, congratulations. But those unlucky one, don’t worries. This is not the end of the world.

SPM new Grading System

Since last year, the government has implemented the new grading system for SPM. An A+ grade is considered a super distinction. A+ was the highest possible grade, which meant students would have scored more than 90% in the subject (see chart).

A total of 7,987 students obtained a combination of A+, A and A- in all the subjects taken in the SPM last year, adding that 214 students from government schools and 41 students who were either from private schools or private candidates, obtained A+ in all subjects taken.

Students are now graded according to A+, A, A-, B+, B, C+, C, D, E and G compared to previously when the grades were from 1A to 9G.

KUALA LUMPUR: The results of the 2009 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM) examinations will be announced next Thursday (March 11), according to a statement from the director-general of education.

The results will be released at schools from 10am on that day, the statement said, adding that private candidates will get their results in the mail.

A total of 165,853 sat for the SPM written examination at 3,569 centres in the country between Nov 18 and Dec 16 last year while 6,920 candidates took the STAM examination at 98 centres between Oct 19 and 27, the statement said. — Bernama
