Tomorrow is the day for all students who sat for The Primary School Assessment Test (Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah, or UPSR). From 10 am onwards, you can obtain the UPSR examination result from your respective school.

So what next after UPSR ?  Definitely the next step is to enter the secondary school.

What is secondary school ? Secondary education in Malaysia is conducted in secondary schools (Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan, SMK). Public secondary schools are regarded as extensions of the national schools. They study in five forms. Each form will take a year. At the end of Form 3, the Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR, formerly known as Sijil Pelajaran Rendah (SRP) or Lower Certificate of Education (LCE)) or Lower Secondary Evaluation is taken by students.

Based on choice, they will be streamed into either the Science stream or Arts stream. The Science stream is generally more desirable. Students are allowed to shift to the Arts stream from the Science stream, but rarely vice-versa.

So what kind of options you have after this ? The options is very much depend on your UPSR result. The cream of the crop will have a better options to pursue their secondary school in highly demanded boarding school such as SBP and MRSM.

Whatever choice it will be, just remembered the next target is your PMR examination. Choose best school that can assist you to achieve your goal. Top school always provide best teacher and facilities but it doesn’t guarantee 100% success. Looking at top students in SPM, many of them are actually from normal school and not from MRSM/SBP.

The Primary School Achievement Test (Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah – UPSR) 2011 examination results will be announced on Nov 17 2011. Candidates can obtain the results from their schools after 10am.

Check by SMS
Candidates can check their results via the short messaging system (SMS). To do so, type UPSR, candidate’s number, and send to 15888. The service will be active from from 10am Thursday (Nov 17) to midnight on Nov 23.

A total of 497,691 candidates sat for UPSR at 8,235 examination centres nationwide.

Majlis Pengumuman Analisis Keputusan UPSR 2011 will be held on the same day at 9.00 am at Meeting room, Level 6, Blok E8, Kompleks Kerajaan Parcel E, Putrajaya.

UPSR 2011 Result Analysis

This year’s Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) results are the best of the past four years. Of the 485,160 candidates who sat for the examinations, 269,021 had good scores with a minimum Grade C (not including straight A scorers). The number of straight A scorers reduced this year, from 10.02% in 2010 to 9.48% (46,012 candidates) in 2011.

The percentage of candidates who scored below minimum achievement (those with grades D, E, or both) also decreased from 3.39% last year to 2.88% this year.
