Hong Leong Foundation Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded to qualified Malaysian students for pursuing full-time Undergraduate Studies(first degree course and to be completed in Malaysia only) and Diploma Courses tenable at recognised public and private universities and colleges in Malaysia.

Those pursuing Foundation, Pre-U, Matriculation, Overseas Transfer Programme or other similar university preparatory course (except Diploma) will not be considered. Please do not apply.

Hong Leong Foundation Scholarship 2012 Details
Requirements	Aged 17 to 25 years old Display outstanding leadership qualities matched by notable in participation extra-curricular activities like societies and clubs, sport, volunteerism, etc. Should not be currently or expecting to be receiving any form of financial aid (including scholarship and loan) or is bonded by any educational institution or organistation Has obtained or awaiting an offer from any of the recognised educational institutions Proficient in the English language (both oral and written) SPM of at least 6As and 2 passes for a minimum of 8 subjects STPM of at least 3As and a pass in the General Paper UEC of at least 5As CGPA of at least 3.5 for Diploma, Matriculation, Foundation or Pre-U. Grants	Undergraduate studies at local public universities at RM7,000 p.a. Undergraduate studies at local private institutions (“3+0” twinning programmes on a full-time and on-campus basis) at up to RM20,000 p.a. Diploma / Advanced Diploma courses at RM5,000 p.a.
Selection	Final selection for the scholarship will be based on candidates’ merits and other criteria set by the Foundation. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview at our head office in Kuala Lumpur.

Bursaries for SPM top scorers

Students who scored 9A+ or above in last year’s SPM will automatically be offered Education Ministry bursaries for local pre-varsity courses, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

The education minister said while the government was restrained financially, it had decided to give aid this year to all 1,609 students who made the grade in 2011.

Bursaries are on offer for STPM, government-approved matriculation and foundation programmes, International Baccalaureate (IB) or A-Levels courses.

Those who successfully complete these courses will retain sponsorship for their first degree starting 2014 if they attain a CGPA of at least 3.5 and secure places in courses and institutions recognised by the Public Services Department (PSD).

Muhyiddin (picture) , who is also the deputy prime minister, said 50 SPM top scorers chosen on academic merit will be sent overseas to further their studies at world-renowned universities recognised by the government.

Another 300 will be sponsored by PSD to study engineering in Japan, South Korea, France and Germany to increase transfer of knowledge from “innovative, creative and competitive” nations, he said.

He disclosed that the government will spend a total of RM2.12 billion to fund students entering local and overseas universities this year.

Putrajaya’s decision to grant bursaries to SPM high-flyers today comes after weeks of increased opposition pressure on the Najib administration over student loans and the sliding quality of local education.

Pakatan Rakyat (PR) has pledged to provide free tertiary education to all Malaysians when it comes to power, an offer the government says will bankrupt the nation.

Students groups have also called for the abolishment of higher education loans, which they say places undue financial burden on graduates.

The government’s decision also comes less than a year after the government said it would limit PSD scholarships to university entrants only from 2012.

The PSD had also proposed to limit the amount of aid handed out given the ever increasing number of SPM straight-As scorers.

Eligibility	Application for the Young Talent Programme must be submitted to Axiata Group Berhad by the due date. The applicant must be a Malaysian citizen or a permanent resident of Malaysia. The applicant must have achieved a result of at least 8 As in the SPM or equivalent. The applicant must obtain a grade A in English, Mathematics and Science (including any of the Pure Science subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Biology). The applicant must be proficient in English, and any other spoken and written languages are favourable. Scholarship Coverage	The Young Talent Programme will cover the full duration of the pre-university course, subject to Axiata Group Berhad’s terms and conditions. The programme’s coverage includes all tuition fees, text books, boarding, travel* and laptops. A non-curriculum fund will be provided for students to participate in the school based extra-curricular activities. The Lion-Parkson Foundation (formerly known as Lion-ASM Foundation) was incorporated on 3rd September, 1985 to provide funds for education, scientific and charitable purposes. The fund awards scholarships and interest-free education loans to deserving students.

The scholarships and educational loans are awarded to Malaysian students to pursue full time undergraduate studies in recognised Public Universities and private universities in Malaysia.

Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) telah membuka permohonan untuk kemasukan ke institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi MARA untuk sesi pengajian Julai 2012.

Syarat Kelayakan

Syarat kelayakan untuk kemasukan ke institusi-institusi pengajian tinggi seperti di atas adalah berbeza bergantung kepada kursus dan syarat-syarat lain yang ditetapkan oleh setiap institusi. Sila rujuk Syarat Kelayakan Memohon.

Permohonan dibahagikan kepada beberapa kategori seperti berikut :

Pemohon yang menggunakan keputusan SPM/SPMV / Setaraf dengannya.
Pemohon lepasan SPM dan Sijil mengikut bidang yang dipohon.
Pemohon lepasan SPM dan STPM.
Pemohon lepasan SPM dan Diploma/Higher National Diploma / Setaraf

Tajaan Pengajian

Pelajar – pelajar yang dipilih bagi mengikuti pengajian di UniKL, GMI dan KPTM adalah layak dipertimbangkan tajaan pinjaman pelajaran MARA. Urusan berkaitan pinjaman pelajaran ini akan diuruskan oleh IPMa yang berkaitan bersama dengan Bahagian Penganjuran Pelajaran MARA.

Manakala, bagi calon yang terpilih mengikuti pengajian di KPM, KKTM, IKM dan KM (PKS-UMK) yuran pengajian adalah percuma yang mana ianya akan dibiayai oleh MARA dan elaun sara hidup akan diberikan kepada mereka yang layak menerima bantuan.
