JPA overseas degree programme

THE Public Services Department of Malaysia (Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam) is organising the overseas degree programme (Program Ijazah Luar Negara) for 2009 but with a difference.

Selection criteria such as academic achievement, involvement in co-curricula activities, social economic background of applicants and performance at the interview have been refined.

Starting this year, those who make up the interview panel will be government officers from various professions and ethnic groups.

Applicants will be grouped in fours by choice of study and interviewed by panellists related to the field.

Interviewees will be asked to discuss (in Bahasa Malaysia and English) a topic selected by the panellists. A special committee will oversee the interviews to ensure fairness.

The number of scholarships offered this year is 2,000. Online applications can be made at www.jpa.gov.my as soon as the SPM 2008 results are released. Closing date is seven days after the examination results are announced.
