A total of 7,987 students obtained a combination of A+, A and A- in all the subjects taken in the SPM last year, adding that 214 students from government schools and 41 students who were either from private schools or private candidates, obtained A+ in all subjects taken.

Students are now graded according to A+, A, A-, B+, B, C+, C, D, E and G compared to previously when the grades were from 1A to 9G.

This year, Gladys Tan Yee Kim from SMK Green Road in Kuching emerged the top SPM student in the country with a score of 10A+’s. The full list as follows :

The results will be released at schools from 10am on that day, the statement said, adding that private candidates will get their results in the mail.

A total of 165,853 sat for the SPM written examination at 3,569 centres in the country between Nov 18 and Dec 16 last year while 6,920 candidates took the STAM examination at 98 centres between Oct 19 and 27, the statement said. — Bernama

Biasiswa

Mereka yang berjaya ditawarkan Biasiswa Kecil Yayasan TM akan menerima kemudahan berikut;

• Elaun poket RM 1,000 setahun bagi pelajar Tingkatan 1 hingga Tingkatan 3
• Elaun poket RM 1,500 setshun bagi pelajar Tingkatan 4 hingga Tingkatan 5
• Berpeluang menyertai program-program pembangunan yang dianjurkan oleh Yayasan TM.

Cara Memohon

• Permohonan hendaklah dibuat secara online dengan melayari laman web Yayasan TM.
• Setelah permohonan dibuat secara online, salinan dokumen berikut dikemukakan;
  • Sijil kelahiran/kad pengenalan.
  • Salinan keputusan UPSR atau PMR 2009.
  • Slip gaji/pengesahan pendapatan ibu dan bapa/penjaga.
  • Salinan kad anggota bagi anak kakitangan Telekom Malaysia.
  • Surat cerai/mati jika berkaitan.
• Dokumen tersebut perlu dihantar kepada; Sekretariat Pemilihan Biasiswa Kecil, Yayasan TM, Aras 9 Utara, Menara TM, Jalan Pantai Baharu 50672 Kualal Lumpur

Tarikh Tutup

• Permohonan secara online Biasiswa Kecil Yayasan TM ditutup pada 18 Februari 2010.
• Dokumen yang berkenaan pula perlu sampai sebelum atau pada 26 Februari 2010.
• Bagi permohonan yang tiada menerima jawapan selepas 3 bulan dari tarikh tutup hendaklah dianggap sebagai tidak berjaya.

Based on goverment’s press release, their received some 46,318 applications for this intake however can only accommodate 4,500 places nation-wide. For those who has successfully obtain a place, the registration is on 2 February 2010.

If you fails to get a place there, you can submit your appeal online in the same page as well from 15 January – 8 February 2010 subject to availability of place after the registration date (taking into consideration students who rejected the offer).

MNRB SCHOLARSHIP FUND, a fund established by MNRB HOLDINGS BERHAD (a Company listed on the Main Board of the Bursa Malaysia and a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)), invites scholarship applications from suitably qualified young Malaysians who have successfully completed their SPM/STPM and are planning to pursue a Matriculation/Foundation, Diploma, First Degree or Professional course on a full-time basis at any recognized institution of higher learning.

VALUE OF AWARD
Tuition fees based on actual for students pursuing studies at public universities or colleges and
a maximum of RM8,000.00 per annum for students pursuing studies at private universities or
colleges. The actual tuition fees are paid for overseas studies.
Allowance of RM8,000.00 per year for local Matriculation/Foundation or Diploma courses and
RM10,000.00 per year for First Degree or Professional courses. For overseas studies, adequate
living and relocation allowances will be given.

A bonding period is attached to the scholarship, where the recipient may be required to serve the MNRB Group or any of the companies designated by the Trustees of the MNRB Scholarship Fund.

The study aid covers primary, secondary and tertiary education.

“The foundation reflects our commitment to help these students break down the barriers that slow or prevent their educational success and ultimately their economic security.”

Thirty-two Malaysians between the ages of six and 16 were the first batch of recipients to be awarded under the Needs Category for Primary and Secondary School education.

Each student will receive financial aid amounting to RM2,500 to help cover fees and education-related expenses (i.e. tuition, books, uniform, shoes and bus fare).

Syarat-syarat kemasukan ke Maktab Tentera Diraja (MTD) adalah seperti berikut:

• Warganegara Malaysia.
• Jantina – Lelaki.
• Tinggi minimum – 152 sm.
• Berat minimum – 40.5 kg.
• Body Mass Index (BMI) – 18 sehingga 27.
• Ukuran dada 74 sm (biasa) dan 79 sm (tarik nafas).
• Penglihatan – Baik dan tidak rabun warna. Jika berkaca mata hendaklah tidak melebihi 6/12.
• Sihat tubuh badan dan tidak mempunyai penyakit yang boleh memudaratkan diri jika melakukan aktiviti ketenteraan dan lasak.
• Terbuka kepada pelajar lelaki yang akan menduduki peperiksaan PMR 2009. Permohonan boleh dibuat berdasarkan keputusan peperiksaan Percubaan PMR 2009.
• Pelajar perlu mengisi borang permohonan kemasukan BAT B 115 Pin 3/03 Maktab Tentera DiRaja dan menduduki Ujian Khas MTD sebagai prasyarat Kemasukan ke Tingkatan 4 di Maktab Tentera DiRaja.
• Pelajar yang mendapat keputusan markah yang cemerlang dalam Ujian Khas MTD akan dipanggil untuk menghadiri Sesi Temuduga Akhir MTD.
• Pelajar yang berjaya dalam Temuduga Akhir MTD tersebut akan ditawarkan pengajian bagi Tingkatan 4 di MTD tahun 2010 dengan syarat keputusan PMR sebenar calon mestilah sekurang-kurangnya 6A 2B (A dalam mata pelajaran Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik dan Sains).

CARA MEMOHON

1. Pemohon boleh mendapatkan borang permohonan kemasukan (BAT B 115 (Pin 3/03) di sini secara percuma.
2. Bagi pemohon yang memohon borang permohanan melalui pos, sila sertakan sampul surat tebal berukuran 25 sm x 36 sm beralamat sendiri dan bersetem RM 1.00 kepada alamat seperti berikut:

Pemohon akan dimaklumkan oleh Sel Pemilihan MTD mengenai tarikh dan tempat Ujian Khas MTD dijalankan.

Borang permohanan BAT B 115 (Pin 3/03) yang telah diisi hendaklah dikembalikan ke alamat di atas selewat-lewatnya pada 25 Sept 2009. Borang permohonan yang lewat diterima dari tarikh yang ditetapkan tidak akan dilayan.

Sekiranya tiada jawapan sehingga 27 Nov 2009, permohonan dianggap tidak berjaya.

PROSES PENGIRAAN MARKAH UJIAN KHAS MTD (UKMTD)

Ujian khas MTD terdiri dari perkara seperti berikut:

i. Pemeriksaan kesihatan – (mesti lulus untuk mengikuti ujian fizikal)
ii. Ujian Akademik = 50%
iii. Ujian Fizikal = 30%
iv. Penilaian Kepimpinan = 10%
v. Penilaian Sukan = 10%
Jumlah Keseluruhan = 100%

Pemohon yang berjaya mendapat markah yang cemerlang dalam Ujian Khas MTD (UKMTD) akan dipanggil untuk menghadiri Sesi Temuduga Akhir MTD.

Permohon yang berjaya dalam temuduga tersebut akan ditawarkan tempat pengajian di MTD dengan syarat keputusan PMR sebenar calon mestilah sekurang-kurangnya 6A 2B (A dalam matapelajaran Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Inggeris, Matematik dan Sains).

For records. the UPSR examination is scheduled for Sept 8 to 10 while the PMR examination will be from Oct 7 to 13. The SPM examination for Form Five students has been set for Nov 19 to Dec 16.

Director-general of Education Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom said all national school examinations including UPSR in September would proceed and held in hospitals if necessary.

“We can’t change the examinations dates as we like. Candidates under treatment will have to sit for examinations in hospitals or in schools without the presence of non-candidate students,” he told Bernama here today.

Alimuddin said the Education Department would discuss with the Health Ministry and National Security Council soon on the best way to conduct the examinations.

Ten primary and secondary schools nationwide were closed for one week to contain the spread of the A(H1N1) virus.

“H1N1 preventive tools like mouth and nose masks, germicides and thermometers will be distributed to all schools soon to check the spread of the virus,” he said.

The UPSR would be held from Sept 8-10, PMR from Oct 7-9, SPM from Nov 19-Dec 16 and STPM from Nov 18-Dec 10. – Bernama
